Books That Changed My Thinking about Economics

I’m just going to list them all pretty like:

First, the one that broke my head open. It shows that individuals united in their self-interested, by their drum major instinct, can create a better economy for themselves with examples of how it has been done all over the world. Thanks Michael.

Although not strictly about economics, social capital is the oil that greases the gears of capitalism. If you don’t believe it, just TRY to get a loan. Even though the lending rate is almost zero, no one is making credit available.

So, localism is a theme here and Schumacher is one of the noble first teachers.

These next two are about how to think about creativity as it interfaces with economics. Just imagine actually enjoying your work because it fills your soul.

Finally, Fareed Zakaria has provided a way of thinking about how to remain competitive in the global market. I’ll give you a hint: it doesn’t involve throwing away people based on their race, gender, or sexual preference.

I hope you give them a read by going to the library and checking them out.
