Free Business Models

I have many friends on Facebook or Twitter who would understand business models involving free content, but pull back from the bleeding edge of tech and you’ll find many people who don’t understand how business is conducted online. Chris Anderson’s book, Free: The Future of a Radical Price, is a great introduction on the concept. I think it’s no coincidence that the NYTimes wrote an article on the business model of Howcast. As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was paid for by Howcast.

How do you feel about this? Will we be overrun by amateurs? Will these amateaurs become the new professionals?
